The Good Earth - About The Work

Throughout time, objects have been made from natural materials we find in our environment. Nadine works with these same materials by assembling wood, bamboo, twine, raffia and leather and enhancing her pieces with beads and feathers. Pieces may be carved or painted.

For Nadine the making of the artwork, painting or sculpture, is an interactive process. It is a conversation between her thoughts, hand and material. In each piece there are literal references and emotional content engaging the viewer in the process of interpretation.

Nadine's “Good Earth” pieces are objects that resemble relics from the past or hand tools and deal with themes of taking care of and preserving the environment. The environmental structures for this current exhibition deal with the concept of Unity, bringing materials together through the use of color, movement, pattern/texture, light and shadow.
